Accessibility Statement
How accessible this website is, what standard we hold it to, what is still not good enough, and how to tell us when something blocks you.
This document still contains placeholder details. Fill in shared/utils/legal.ts before making the site publicly available in the EU.
Our commitment
We want this site to be usable by everyone, including people who navigate by keyboard, use a screen reader, magnify the page, or need reduced motion.
This statement covers the website at games.nethound.org. It does not cover the games themselves, which are separate desktop products with their own accessibility characteristics.
Standard we apply
We aim to conform to EN 301 549, the European harmonised standard referenced by the European Accessibility Act (Directive 2019/882), which adopts the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA for web content.
Current status
This site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means most of the site meets the standard, but some parts do not yet.
This assessment is based on our own review, not on a third-party audit. We would rather say that plainly than claim a conformance level we have not had independently verified.
Known limitations
We are aware of the following and are working on them:
- Some decorative and screenshot images do not yet have adequate text alternatives.
- Colour contrast of muted body text against the dark background is below the 4.5:1 minimum in places.
- The animated background and hero effects are decorative; they are disabled when your system requests reduced motion, but not all animation on the site respects that setting yet.
- Some interactive components have not been tested end to end with a screen reader.
- Game screenshots and concept art have no long descriptions.
What is already in place
The following are implemented across the site:
- A skip link so keyboard users can jump straight to the main content.
- A visible focus indicator on every interactive element.
- The page language is declared and changes with the language you select.
- The site works at 320 pixels wide and reflows without horizontal scrolling.
- Menus and dialogs can be operated by keyboard and closed with Escape.
- Decorative motion is suppressed when your system asks for reduced motion.
- Form fields have real labels, and errors are described in text rather than by colour alone.
